Introduction to Flo

Flo is the name I’ve chosen for my eagerly awaited VW T6 Campervan. So named from the expression “living in the moment and going with the flow”.

Sadly I am in the process of selling our 4WD and off road camper trailer. Chris and I had traveled extensively and had finally found our perfect setup. Now that I’ve become a solo traveler, Flo is exactly what I need.

Fitzroy Crossing WA 2017
Our big road trip (18,060ks) 10 April to 2nd July 2017

Now that I have Flo, my next trip is with the Rolling Solo group and we are going to Exmouth WA for the annual gathering of Rollers called Stuck in the middle, this time it’s Exmouth SITMEX. About 300 women will congregate at the Caravan Park booked out for the week of the event.

I will travel with the NSW Kookaburras. A group of about 20 women forming a tagalong taking 4 weeks to travel from Ponto Falls (Central West NSW) to Exmouth.(6000ks) Along the way the group will grow by another 10 or so.

As it’s my first tagalong it’s very exciting preparing for such a trip. Doreen our leader is very knowledgeable and experienced so I look forward to learning lots. We travel for 2-3 days then have a rest day or two. No more than 450ks a day for fatigue management. Many of the camps will be free camps so that will test my solar.

The idea is to see as much as we can along the way and enjoy the journey.

I wanted to do the route over the Nullabour and come back the same way taking in as much as southern WA as possible.

Chris and I had planned to do this and the west coast.

Other tagalong groups are traveling over the top which believe it or not is only marginally longer than our southern route.

The momentum and excitement is beginning to build. Planning from our two planning weekends at Mumbil are being fine tuned, preparation of vehicles, packing and research need to be done I agonized over fitting a bullbar on Flo or not but decided to go ahead. Five weeks to go……
